Car Cleaning Hacks to Make Your Spring Cleaning Last

There’s nothing quite like stepping into a clean, fresh car. Help make this feeling last longer by choosing long-lasting spring cleaning techniques. Try a few of these car cleaning hacks to keep your car clean through summer.

Wash Tire

When washing your tires, use non-acid products to get a good clean without damaging the tires with harsh chemicals. Use a stiff brush to remove any tough grime that has worked its way into your tires, and something small, like a toothbrush, can be a useful tool to reach the smaller areas in your tire. All-over cleanliness, without damaging chemicals, will leave your tires in great shape.

Detail Your Interior

While vacuuming the interior of your vehicle is the norm, when was the last time you detailed it? Take your vehicle to a local detailing team or grab your cleaning kit of brushes, rags, and cleaning solutions. For seams between interior details of your car, use a cloth and flathead screwdriver. Be cautious not to scratch your interior or pry apart the panels, but use the screwdriver to cautiously wipe hard-to-reach cracks and crevices with a towel and a small amount of cleaning solution.

Make Sure to Polish Your Dash

Your dash is exposed to extreme UV rays for much of the day. This can cause it to fade, crack and otherwise become damaged. Polish and oil your dash for durable UV protection and long-lasting shine. After you vacuum and wipe your dash with a microfiber cloth, a coat of polish can keep it looking like new for years to come. If you don’t have any polish handy, using olive oil instead of professional polish is a great automotive cleaning hack. Polish or oil isn’t recommended for every dash material, so avoid using this if you have carpet or other particular materials on your dashboard.

Wax Your Car

Waxing a vehicle enhances its shininess and makes the vehicle look sharp and polished. The thin layer of wax covering the paint job helps protect it from bugs, sap, bird droppings, water marks, rock salt and other corrosive or harmful materials. Waxing a vehicle regularly helps maintain a quality paint job, while vehicles that haven’t been waxed may have damaged paint because of exposure to UV rays and elements
